The concept
The days where an office was a bleak, functional landscape of desks, chairs, and filing cabinets are behind us. In today’s modern workplace, the purpose of an individual item of furniture takes a back seat to the overall design and the way the furniture melds into its surroundings. Nature provided the inspiration for LO’s new showroom in Neuchâtel. “An office is still an office”, says Nicolas Stritt, Branch Manager LO Neuchâtel and LO Fribourg. “But the natural feel of our setting, the modern furniture and carefully chosen materials and colours have enabled us to create an office that it’s pleasant to work in.”
The new 150 square metre showroom in Neuchâtel exhibits three workstations, a seating area, a lounge, a room-in-room solution for meetings, and plenty of storage space. An oak parquet floor lends a warm ambiance. Unpretentious white walls give the modern interior décor centre stage, accentuating a pillar with plants climbing round it and two circular lamps symbolising the moon – one gleaming from the ceiling; the other from a living wall. “Our ‘jungle’ design has worked wonderfully”, says Nicolas Stritt. “You really feel as though you’re in the outdoors and surrounded by nature.” Rope lights trace a bolt of lightning on the ceiling, while the seating area next to the greenery-bedecked pillar picks up the brown from the wooden floor. The storage systems and rugs also take their colour scheme from the parquet flooring, while the cupboard fronts are inspired by the surrounding greenery. It’s a harmonious scheme, creating a room perfectly in tune with its surroundings.
